Calcant - the workshop for the repair and restoration of organs and harmoniums since 1986

as well as Matthias Müller, organist, harmonist, harpsichordist, pianist, Choirdirector and composer

Here you can get an overview of my work in the professional renovation / reparation of church organs and harmoniums and my work as a musician.

Since 1986 I repair and restore organs, harmoniums, pianos and celestas in many european countries and Brazil.

As a Kantor (title like J.S. Bach) and concert organist, I have made knowledge with many many organ builders, played many restored and newly built organs all over Europe

And at some point after many unpleasant experiences and disappointments I decided:

I will do it differently!

In view of the financially desolate situation of many congregations, monasteries and museums, I have one thing in my mind:

Fair hourly wages, correct preparation of working hours and work as well as a mobile workshop keep the costs of a repair or restoration low for the client and ensure a not too high estimated cost estimate.

The help of local forces and the opportunity to always have a look at my work make my job more transparent. Very often I have had to experience that an instrument to be restored disappears for too long in an organ workshop, even though there was really little to do. Unfortunately, many organ builders use this "non-working time" and thus no insight into the actual work.

Especially in Saxony-Anhalt, I am attacked for my work by organ builders, organ experts (as they are appointed and they are not actually!) And organists have the fear of competition.

In my 40 years as an organist and cantor, I know what is needed for organ rehabilitation and what work on your instrument is necessary or superfluous. So it will not happen that I give you a quote that contains unnecessary points, as it so often happens.

My cost estimates are prepared in detail and all work documented photo documentary. A good, continual cooperation with the church councils and organ experts is desired.

Especially congregations that are not financially well there, like to organ or harmonium overhaul, cleaning, getting around, mood, deficiencies can be like to me.

All the organs that I have restored over the years were taken by the experts without error. There is still good contact to all the parishes in which I have worked, so they can always be called by new clients to find out about my work.

Parishioners who are in the mood for a concert of mine on their organ or Harmonnium are welcome to contact me. Everything as always possible on a collector basis.

Especially for organ inaugurations I have works that let the organ sound in as many tones as possible. Rarely played works that are particularly suitable for the ears of laymen. From meditative to cheerful. The first concert on a newly built or restored organ is the most important thing. If there are works that are not pleasing to the listener, some call it the regular worshiper or concertgoer, you run the risk that future concerts will be visited worse.

I've been to countless organ-inauguration concerts that have just played far too heavy, long works. Nothing for the layman and afterwards hardly happy faces could be seen. That is also different!

I hope that I can give you a lot of joy with "my music". May as many people as possible hear that there are not only the great composers who have written beautiful music.
